A photo can do what words can’t—showing how a small, overlooked bathroom can become a space you actually enjoy spending time in. Each transformation here started with a real homeowner and a vision for something better. With guidance from Block, those ideas became practical, stylish spaces that work. If you’re wondering what’s possible in your own home, these before-and-afters are a great place to start. ### From vintage to Scandinavian modern ![before-and-after-bathroom-remodel-vintage-to-modern-minimalism](https://www.blockrenovation.com/hs-fs/hubfs/after_bathroom1.jpg?width=1470&height=1176&name=after_bathroom1.jpg) A retro tilework and color scheme make way for something softer and more welcoming: clean cabinetry, warm wood, and gentle light, [true to Scandinavian design](https://www.blockrenovation.com/guides/scandinavian-inspired-bathroom-ideas-design-principles?hsLang=en). By focusing on simple textures and a natural palette, this redo brings out the best in a small footprint. Step inside—and see how a few modern choices can set a peaceful new tone. By working with the small room’s original layout, the homeowner and Block kept costs practical and reached for changes that matter: new tile, brighter fixtures, and a color palette designed for today. The before-and-after result is a bath that feels intentional and refreshed, without the need for a full overhaul. [Explore this bathroom's transformation.](https://www.blockrenovation.com/customer-gallery/brooklyn-bathroom-9479?hsLang=en) ### Proof that small changes go a long way ![before-and-after-bathroom-remodel-corner-shower-black-fixtures](https://www.blockrenovation.com/hs-fs/hubfs/after_bathroom14.jpg?width=1470&height=1176&name=after_bathroom14.jpg) Let’s be frank—the “before” version of this bathroom doesn’t feel fitting for the 21st Century. The homeowner was determined for their small bathroom to feel spacious and modern, leading to the [black-and-white tiled color scheme](https://www.blockrenovation.com/guides/what-color-to-paint-a-black-and-white-tile-bathroom?hsLang=en) and glass shower walls. [**Check out this small Brooklyn bathroom's remodel.**](https://www.blockrenovation.com/customer-gallery/brooklyn-bathroom-16142?hsLang=en)  ### Transformation through the power of color ![before-and-after-bathroom-remodel-floor-to-ceiling tile](https://www.blockrenovation.com/hs-fs/hubfs/after_bathroom15.jpg?width=1470&height=1176&name=after_bathroom15.jpg) There was nothing inherently wrong with the “before” version of the bathroom, but it could hardly be described as “inviting.” By switching from black walls to light green tile and changing the design of the shower, the whole mood shifted from drab to lively. Bright accents show that a dash of color can be a powerful tool in a remodel. [Find a Contractor](https://www.blockrenovation.com/planner/route?hsLang=en) ![](https://www.blockrenovation.com/hs-fs/hubfs/raw_assets/public/block-theme-v2/images/ctas/cta-inline-hire-contractor.jpg?width=600&height=400&name=cta-inline-hire-contractor.jpg) ### A remodel to fit the new homeowner’s tastes ![before-and-after-bathroom-remodel-dated-to-minimalist](https://www.blockrenovation.com/hs-fs/hubfs/after_bathroom16.jpg?width=1470&height=1176&name=after_bathroom16.jpg) The “before” version of this bathroom had a style that spoke to a select group of tastes, but it wasn’t quite right for its new owners. By introducing a classic black-and-white palette, the homeowners brought the bathroom in line with their contemporary, minimalist sensibilities. Every detail—from fixtures to finishes—was chosen to reflect their vision, creating a space that feels personal and truly their own. [**Find inspiration here.**](https://www.blockrenovation.com/customer-gallery/jersey-city-bathroom-15511?hsLang=en) ### Defining the space through color ![before-and-after-bathroom-remodel-salmon-pink-walls-gold-fixtures](https://www.blockrenovation.com/hs-fs/hubfs/after_bathroom17.jpg?width=1470&height=1176&name=after_bathroom17.jpg) The “before” look combined purple paint with sandy stone, resulting in a space that felt visually scattered—pulling together elements from different decades without a clear direction. The small bathroom remodel brought everything into focus: black and white tile grounds the room, while pastel pink walls and modern gold hardware create playful contrast. The result is unmistakably fresh, delivering a 21st-century take on fun and personality without sacrificing cohesion. [**Check out this small bathroom remodel.**](https://www.blockrenovation.com/customer-gallery/brooklyn-bathroom-16141?hsLang=en) ### A bathroom revolutionized through design ![before-and-after-bathroom-remodel-small-black-walls](https://www.blockrenovation.com/hs-fs/hubfs/after_bathroom18.jpg?width=1470&height=1176&name=after_bathroom18.jpg) A bold new design approach reimagined this space entirely, opening it up with the choice of glass doors and a minimalist sink. The use of subway tile and a contrasting black accent wall makes the room feel more purposeful, providing more than mere function. The transformation proves how effective design can bring light, order, and personality into a previously cramped environment.
