Block Renovation Editorial Policy

Block Renovation publishes guides, cost breakdowns, and how-to content to help homeowners and commercial clients plan renovations with confidence. This policy explains who writes that content, where the numbers and expertise come from, and how AI tools support the work.

Who writes for Block

Most of the people who write for Block are, first and foremost, Project Planners. They are the same people who work directly with homeowners, and in some cases business owners. They know what a realistic budget looks like, where projects tend to run into trouble, and which decisions a homeowner will wish they had made sooner. That experience is the foundation of what you read here.

Our editorial process

Block content comes from human writers who pull from their professional experience. They consult experienced tradespeople and design specialists on a regular basis to keep the content accurate, practical, and technically sound. AI helps round out research and assists with proofreading. However, AI is never regarded as a substitute for human writers, editors, or lived expertise.

Accuracy and sourcing

Numbers matter in renovation content, so Block holds cost figures and claims to a clear standard. Cost ranges come from Block's own project data, recognized cost databases, or figures a client has supplied directly. We use representative ranges rather than memorable outliers, and we say what pushes a project toward the high or low end of a range. When we link to an outside source, we choose ones that are credible and authoritative, such as government and municipal sites, building code bodies, federal data, and academic research.

Editorial independence

Block's content is written to help readers plan renovations. Sponsors and outside partners do not dictate what we cover or what an article concludes. Our guidance reflects the editorial team's independent judgment.

Corrections and updates

If we get something wrong, we fix it. Readers who spot an error can flag it, and we will correct the article and note the update. We also revisit older content as costs, codes, and renovation practices change. Questions about our content, our writers, or how we use AI are welcome.
