La Crescenta In-Law Unit

A one-bedroom ADU in La Crescenta designed as a true family compound, a full-time home for the owners' parents, right in the backyard. We grandfathered in the existing garage location and added square footage to create a comfortable, permanent living space. The design playfully pulls cues from the main house, clad in fireproof cement board siding. Inside, vaulted ceilings open up the space, anchored by a custom stove vent hood and a circular window framing the neighboring oak trees. The kitchen was designed for a client who loves to cook, with custom cabinetry and tile laid out piece by piece with the homeowners. Working with creative clients meant every detail was intentional, from built-in storage solutions to the overall flow of the space. A home crafted for everyday living, not just weekends.
